Elvira Fortunato
Elvira Fortunato 葡萄牙新里斯本大学,教授 New University of Lisbon,Professor Elvira Fortunato currently serves as Science and Technology Advisor to the President of Portugal. She previously held the position of Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education of Portugal, Vice Rector of the NOVA University Lisbon (September 2017–2022), Director of the Centre for Materials Research (CENIMAT), and Director of the Institute of Nanostructures, Nanomodelling and Nanofabrication. She was a Guest Professor at the Federal University of Lavras, Brazil (2013–2022). A member of the Portuguese Academy of Engineering, the Lisbon Academy of Sciences, and the European Academy of Sciences, she also once acted as Chief Science Advisor to the European Commission. Additionally, she serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces (ACS-AMI) and the Editorial Board of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Professor Elvira Fortunato is a pioneer in research on transparent electronic devices (i.e., thin-film transistors based on oxide semiconductors) in Europe and a co-inventor of the global electronic paper concept. Her research team is exploring novel active properties of advanced and sustainable multifunctional materials, including oxides and new electronically active materials (as well as alternative deposition methods). She has been the recipient of several international awards, such as the Czochralski Medal (Materials Science) conferred by the Polish Academy of Sciences and the GREE Women in Engineering Award from the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO). |
