Research interests: augmented/virtual reality (AR/VR), wearable displays, biomimetic devices, vision science.

To date, Prof. Chen has published 72 SCI-indexed journal papers (first/corresponding author: 46), 9 EI-indexed/other journal papers, 92 international conference papers (invited: 21), 40 patent applications (issued: 22), and 2 software copyrights. According to Google Scholar, his publications have received a total of citations over 1760 (h-index: 26).
